Google Needs The Help of 200 Goats!

Digitalized by Tekkaus | 3:29 AM | | Comments

No kidding! There are some problems that even the Internet giant couldn't control. Google's world class engineers can't solve it, hence 200 goats will have to to do it! Yes! Internet-Age innovator Google is taking advantage of an old-time principle to thwart wildfires: Goats! Hence Google hope with the help of these omnivores (animal that eats everything!) the wildfires won't happen in their camp! Yep, these goats will eat almost anything! If you stand in these goats' way, you are going to end up in their stomach. Ha :D

Let me see if there are 200!

Google has brought in 200 of the grazers to munch fields around its campus in the Northern California city of Mountain View. As we all know, Google's home-California is prone to wildfires and several years of drought have heightened the danger of "eruption"! Grass and bush that thrive during the state's brief rainy season turn ominously sere and flammable during the parched months. It's better to get rid the roots of the problems before they manifest themselves right?

Firefighters consistently advise people to clear bush to create buffer zones bereft of fuel for spreading flames. Google certainly listen to their advise huh! Unfortunately Google's move has upsets PETA! But why? No goats were killed right? Ha :D

iRiver's T6 On The Go!

Digitalized by Tekkaus | 11:10 PM | , | Comments

iRiver is getting serious with their minimalist designs too huh! Their latest portable media player, the T6, allows users to listen to MP3 songs, tune in to radio stations, views still images and record audio while on the go. Meaning you can do almost everything with this player except watching video clips right? Well...this T6 is after all, very cheap compared to the latest iPod Shuffle. I believe T6 can compete with the latest Shuffle head-to-head without much problem.

Blockquote

This cool gadget measures 92 x 41 x 9.4mm in size, has a stylish brushed metal and glossy hard plastic housing. It certainly appeals to me. It weighs just a mere 53.8g. Which is really light and perhaps you won't notice it in your pocket too. T6 also has an illuminating touch-sensitive control pad and a 1.8 in LCD that has a 128x160-pixel resolution. Touch-sensitive? Sounds like a quite nifty player.

T6 can play songs formatted in MP3, WMA and WAV, and display JPEG and BMP images. The player can also record your favourite radio transmissions, which will be saved in WAV format. Its rechargeable battery has a rated playback time of up to 28 hours on a single charge. Now that's really handy especially when you are on board a plane which kept on detouring from one destination to another.

This media playes is available in 2 different colours-Black and white. And guess what? It retails for only RM199! That's not even $100 right? Give it a try. I believe it is as good as Shuffle...at least price-wise. :D

Activated Conficker Worm Is Burrowing Everywhere!

Digitalized by Tekkaus | 7:46 PM | , | Comments

Sure enough, a lot of you have heard about the latest virus that is attacking our digital lives silently. They are burrowing into your prized possessions! The malicious software program known as Conficker that many feared would wreak havoc on April 1 is slowly being activated, weeks after being dismissed as a false alarm security experts said last week. Yes, they are being "Activated". Just like HIV that blooms into full-blown attack force which causes AIDS! Conficker is almost similar since it could cripple our computers' security and ultimately "destroy" them. Are you aware of their threats?

How alert are you?

Conficker, also known as Downadup or Kido, is quietly turning an unknown number of PCs into servers of e-mail spam. This new breed of worm started spreading late last year, infecting millions of computers and turning them into "slaves" that respond to commands sent from a remote server that effectively controls an army of computers known as a botnet. In other words, when your PCs are infected you could be "hijacked" without even knowing it.

Are your PCs well protected?

Its unidentified creators started using those machines for criminal purposes in recent weeks by loading more malicious software onto a small percentage of computers under their control, said Vincent Weafer, a vice-president with Symantec Security Response-the research arm of security software maker Symantec Corp. Conficker installs a second virus, known as Waledac, that sends out e-mail spam without knowledge of the PC's owner, along with a fake anti-spyware program, Weafer said.  The Waledac virus recruits the PCs into a second botnet that has existed for several years and specialises in distributing e-mail spam.

Beware of this fake warning!

Here's something more shocking: Conficker also carries a third virus that warns users their PCs are infected and offers them a fake antivirus program, Spyware Protect 2009 for US$49.95 (RM180). If they buy it, their credit card information is stolen and the virus downloads even more malicious software. Wow! These culprits are really smart right now. They set so many traps for us...

Then they'll ask you to buy the
fake Spyware Protector 2009!!!

Although the number of infected machines that have become active is relatively small, it is expected that a consistent stream of attacks to follow, with other types of malware distributed by Conficker's authors. This is of course going to be a slow and painful process. We'd better keep an eye on our online activities before we become their victims. Anyway it's better safe than sorry. Hence I would like to recommend you Kaspersky Internet Security 2009! Be safe! Click on the link below to find out more.
